Visual Storytelling
The best illustrations tell the parts of the story that words leave behind. Whether developing a character, building a world, or supporting a brand, illustration isn't simply part of the design—it's part of the communication. It's one of the reasons I enjoy solving creative problems from the very first sketch.
Advocacy Through Illustration
Created the featured illustration for a children's literacy fundraising campaign, using visual storytelling to celebrate the imagination and opportunity that books inspire. The artwork became the unifying image across the event, supporting donor communications, presentations, recognition awards, and campaign materials.
Character & Personality
Created as a personal holiday mailer, this illustration explores humor, movement, and personality through expressive character performance. The piece demonstrates how gesture, composition, and storytelling can capture the unique spirit of characters while creating an engaging narrative.
Editorial Storytelling
Created for an editorial article exploring the misconception that artists must suffer emotionally to produce meaningful work, this illustration uses visual metaphor to communicate an abstract idea. The piece demonstrates the power of illustration to express complex concepts with clarity, mood, and emotional resonance.
Conceptual Storytelling
Selected for inclusion in the Society of Illustrators West exhibition, this illustration became the central visual concept for a children's literacy fundraising campaign. The artwork transformed the act of reading into a journey, serving as the foundation for campaign materials, promotional communications, and donor engagement.
Visual Research
Every project begins with observation. My sketchbooks combine drawings, notes, and visual discoveries gathered while traveling, documenting architecture, landscapes, food, and everyday moments. These pages serve as a creative archive, capturing ideas and inspiration that often resurface in future projects.
